Inheritance Pattern of Important Qualitative Traits in Safflower (Carthamus tinctorious L.)

چکیده

Safflower is an important oilseed crop with poorly studied genetic inheritance of the characters. In this study genetically diverse parents were selected which had many contrasting qualitative traits. The used in GMU-1217, GMU- 6854, GMU-6891, GMU-2830, EC 755673 and EC755664. Crosses made between parents. Observations parental traits, traits appearing F1 F2 data analysed for goodness fit by χ2 test appropriate ratio. A total seven characters studied, they were, branching type, mode branching, spininess, length bract, leaf dentation, form shape, flower colour change at maturity, segregation generation different showed presence either complementary or inhibitory gene action all while other crosses found to have a combination both monogenic digenic action.A proper knowledge Agronomic helps planning efficient strategy further improvement.

Genetic Variation in Safflower (Carthamus tinctorious L.) for Seed Quality-Related Traits and Inter-Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) Markers

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorious L.) is an oilseed crop that is valued as a source of high quality vegetable oil. The genetic diversity of 16 safflower genotypes originated from different geographical regions of Iran and some with exotic origin were evaluated. Eight different seed quality-related traits including fatty acid composition of seed oil (stearic acid, palmitic acid, oleic acid and li...

evaluation of genetic control of seed quality traits in safflower (carthamus tinctorious l.)

diallel crosses of eight genotypes of safflower were conducted and f1 and f2 generations were evaluated to estimate genetic parameters for seed-quality related traits including protein contents (%), fiber, ash and oil yeild. griffing’s methods 1 and 2 for f1 and f2 generations was used, respectively. sixty four genotypes including 8 parents and 56 f1 progenies, and half diallel crosses of f2 ge...

Breeding improvements in safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.): A review

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is an oil seed crop that is grown not only for its edible oil but also for its applications as animal feed and plant-made pharmaceuticals. Historically, biometrical genetics played a crucial role in the improvement of safflower seed yield and its components, phenologic and morphologic traits, and nutritional properties including oil, fatty (linoleic, oleic, s...

Quality evaluation of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) cultivars

Abstract Safflower is a minor oilseed crop in Australia where the market is dominated by canola, cottonseed and sunflower. Safflower however offers an alternative oilseed crop in marginal areas. This study was designed to evaluate current safflower lines and to determine their potential value both for edible oil and meal for animal feed. Two sets of samples were analysed. The first was a collec...
